You may be familiar with the term serial killer, but today you also
know a person who was known as a kind, popular and respected doctor, but his
real face is very ugly. Was His name is Larry Nasr. He was known as the most
authoritative and respected doctor of the American gymnastics team. Her job was
to keep the girls participating in the Olympic gymnastics team physically fit
and to treat their physical pain in the event of an injury. But the fact is
that what he did to these little girls in the name of "treatment"
wounded the souls of these girls for life.
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1985, Dr. Larry
Nasr joined the US national gymnastics team as a medical staff. Then in 1997 he
joined the Michigan State University physics team. He regularly assisted the
gymnast in four games for the US gymnastics team. His charming personality had
the status of a deity. Parents who treated their children with Dr. Larry
considered it a great honor.
During his three-decade career, Larry continued to sexually exploit
innocent girls and young women. These were the girls who represented the United
States at the Olympics and won medals. The teenage girls, with medals on the
Victory Stand, seemingly smiling faces and in fact wounded souls, could hardly
tell anyone what Larry had been doing to them under the pretext of treatment.
While fully exposing the girls suffering from physical pain, while massaging
with one hand, the fingers of the glove without the other hand would reach the
parts which do not fall under the category of sexual intercourse.
Larry reassured the girls that he was their friend and sympathizer
and that it was all part of the treatment. He would give them valuable gifts
and feed them his favorite food. These girls were often away from their parents
on training campuses. He knew that young girls were unable to understand and
protest against this heinous game. And even if someone said something, their
parents wouldn't believe it. Because Larry had the best and most trusting
relationship with him so that his guilt would be covered up. But how long would
this secret remain?
Former gymnast Rachel Dan Hollander first uncovered her heinous
sexual crime in 2016. Sixteen years after the rape, she is no longer a
frightened girl, but a lawyer, a human rights activist and a mother of four. In
2000, Rachel, a 15-year-old gymnast, went to see Dr. Larry for a year for
physical therapy. He used to cover her in his clinic and sexually exploit her
by standing behind her in the presence of his mother in such a way that the
movement of his fingers could not be detected.
Rachel first exposed the sexual abuse by writing an article in the
Andy Star newspaper and then filing a case with the police. Come up with ten
events. One hundred and fifty-six girls testified before Judge Rose Marie in a
Michigan court for seven consecutive days. Larry kept hearing the details of
his horrific, secret sexual crimes from the girls who came one after the other
in the criminal cells, which were now being exposed to the whole world. At last
the silence of years had found its way.
Kayla Stephens, who first told her story, said Larry first sexually
abused her at the age of six when she was studying at KG. When Kayla told her
parents, instead of believing it, they apologized to Larry because Larry was
their trusted and kind friend and the country's most respected doctor. He said,
addressing Larry.
"You used my body for your sexual gratification for six years.
When my milk teeth were not broken. Maybe you understand now that young girls
don't always stay young, they grow up to be strong women and then they can turn
around and destroy your world. ”
When Kayla's father found out the truth, he committed suicide in
2016 out of remorse for not believing his daughter's words at the time.
The girls, who came one after the other after the banana, also told
the results of their sexual abuse with tears and grief. Jessica Thomsho said:
"PTSD has created a fear in my hands. That fear changed me. I don't want
to touch a boy's hand and I don't go near male friends. I lost most of my
childhood to sexual exploitation. ”
Jenny, who won a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympics, described how
she suffered from anorexia, bulimia and depression. And was hospitalized as a
result of a suicide attempt. "I did not know what was happening to me. Why
wasn't I proud of my achievements? My self-confidence was zero. "
According to Mikela Moroni, who won a gold medal for her gymnastics
team at the London Olympics, it was the scariest night of her life when she
took a long flight from Tokyo to London for the Olympics. Larry gave her a
sleeping pill on the plane and then when she opened her eyes in the middle of
the night, she was alone in the room with Larry. He kept giving me
"treatment" all night. I thought I would die tonight. He exploited my
confidence, my body and the scars he left on my psyche will never go away. ”He
was fifteen years old at the time.
In court, Donna Markham, Chelsea's abusive mother, told the court
how her daughter quit gymnastics at the age of 13 because of Larry's sexual
abuse and never pumped again after getting addicted to drugs. Ski She committed
suicide in 2009 to escape her grief. He was only 23 years old. "I cry
every day remembering him," said his mother, sobbing.
The youngest of them all, 18-year-old Medclin Jones, said he had
been a gymnast for 13 years. Before each of her appointments with Larry, she
would go to the bathroom and cry and go home as soon as possible after the
treatment. But no matter how much he bathes, he doesn't seem to get rid of the
dirt. "You were sexually abusing me while talking to my mother about
Christianity," he told Larry. You took away my strength, my self-esteem,
my emotional development, my happiness and my innocence. ”
To date, the number of girls who have testified against Larry has
reached 500. On January 24, 2018, Judge Marie sentenced Larry Nasr to forty to
one hundred and seventy-five years for his crimes. In addition to the crime of
rape, this child pornography crime was also proved. Take pictures of 37,000
children from his computer. thanks. The "Me Too" movement that took
place during this time, which quietly voiced its grievances.
Why is there so much delay in justice against this heinous crime?
This is not the first time that Rachel has complained about Larry.
Earlier, some of Larry's complaints came in 1998. And then in 2014, Amanda
Thomshaw, a young Chicago State University student who went to Larry for
treatment, complained to the university administration about her behavior, but
was ignored and silenced. She said she did not understand the difference
between rape and medical procedures.
The investigation report also states that the complaints were not
acted upon because the Gymnastics and US Olympic Committees did not want to
intimidate their sponsors and jeopardize their Olympic medals. So it was better
to hide it. Thus, these medals were given priority over the physical and mental
health of the innocent girls of the country. Which is a shameful and
unforgivable crime and the responsibility falls on the heads of many powerful
people. That is why the scholars of the boards of these institutions had to
resign.
There are some important lessons to be learned from this incident.
1. Children's words should not be ignored.
2. Sex offenders can be anyone who is a seemingly trustworthy,
compassionate and caring friend. The majority are our acquaintances.
3. Improve the reporting of child sexual abuse and have a thorough
investigation.
4. Teach children to tell immediately. No matter how kind a friend
he may seem and keep talking until someone listens to him and helps him.
5. The police administration should take legal action against these
incidents.
6. Research journalism is very important. Indiana Police newspaper
Andy Star has been instrumental in publicizing the incident and bringing it to
an end.
7. The role of a movement like "Me Too" should be
considered important.
Remember, it is easy to cover up a crime but it is difficult to
reveal it and get justice but this is also the real duty of humanity.
