Environmental issues in Pakistan

Today, everywhere in Pakistan, whether in the newspapers, TV programs, or national and provincial politics, Pakistan's financial problems are mentioned everywhere, but the serious environmental problems facing Pakistan are not discussed much, deforestation, air pollution. Toxic water Climate change Water scarcity Natural disasters Land Indiscriminate barrenness use of pesticides, and other such problems are becoming more serious with the growing population.

Man has been living on this Earth for centuries. He is influenced by the environment around him. Man and the Earth are inseparable. It is impossible to imagine another without one.

Today, the planet is facing various environmental problems, mainly due to the constant changes in the environment and the problems arising from these changes, including natural disasters, global warming, extreme cold and heat, and other environmental problems include.

Before the pollution in the environment, Pakistan was very beautiful, and at that time, everything looked beautiful. Cities, towns, villages, springs, canals, rivers, streams, mountains, roads, unpaved roads, and fields were all beautiful. But now the environment is not the same as before. It seems that now most of the pollution has been created in Pakistan and the reason is human beings. Man has polluted the environment because of his deeds. Due to this, the air of Pakistan has become toxic.

The clear air is polluted. Rivers and springs have become foul-smelling. Toxic gases and car fumes have caused a lot of damage to the sky. Terrible diseases are spreading rapidly, and most people are suffering from them. The country's environmental issues are growing on a daily basis and seem harmful to Pakistan, such as air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, climate change, abuse of pesticides, soil erosion, and natural disasters.

The Karachi flood took a lot of people under a cloud right now. The rain transformed into large rivers that flowed along the main roads. Pakistan is on the list of those countries that are already suffering from them, according to the Global Environment Performance Index (EPI). Climate change and global warming are the most troubling problems that have put millions of lives at risk. Carbon pollution, growing populations, and deforestation are the key causes of environmental problems. These can be significant issues for the community. The government is expected to take specific action to counter these risks.

Pakistan is included in one of the top countries facing severe water shortages. Only one major river, the Indus, which supplies water from the plains of Punjab to the agricultural lands of Sindh, has relatively little access to fresh water in the rest of the country. ۔ Water pollution or toxic water makes the situation even more dangerous—industrial waste dumped in rivers, canals, and lakes. Excessive use of unnatural fertilizers in crops, dumping of untreated sewage into rivers, and old pipelines that carry water to homes is dangerous to human health. Most diseases in Pakistan are directly or indirectly linked to contaminated water.

In Pakistan, deforestation has increased enormously, almost doubling over the last two decades. Four percent of Pakistan's land area was covered with forests in 1990, and just 2.2 percent of the land was found to be covered with forests and only destroyed in 2010. Pakistan is now the highest deforestation rate in Asia, according to recent reports. As our actions contribute to the deforestation of forests, we, human beings, are the main cause of forest destruction.

There is rising proof that Pakistan's air quality has a strong effect on our quality of life. Air pollution can be described as the production of poisonous solid and liquid particles in the air and certain gases that are harmful to the atmosphere. Although the influence of poor air quality on morbidity and mortality in more extreme conditions has been shown by the study, its insidious effects are not adequately addressed. Pakistan's levels of air pollution have turned into a health emergency that is direr than smoking, tuberculosis, and unsafe water and sanitation. Pakistan was the second most contaminated country in 2018, according to the World Air Quality report.

Water pollution is caused when a body of water is polluted by toxic chemicals such as pollutants, waste, and some microorganisms, making it unsafe for human use or consumption. It can be highly dangerous to one's health to drink from contaminated streams, rivers, lakes, and ponds or use its water to bathe or cook. Pakistan stands among 122 nations at number 80 in terms of the quality of drinking water. Both surface and groundwater drinking water supplies are polluted nationally by coliforms, radioactive metals, and pesticides—various parameters of drinking water quality set by WHO are regularly breached.

Climate change refers to the Earth's long-term warming emissions in the atmosphere, whereas climate change is a general phenomenon that refers to irregular climate changes on the Earth. To put it plainly, global warming can be said to be a symptom of climate change. Pakistan is one of the world's largest global warming victims. Due largely to the rising global warming, the heatwaves and cold snaps we have been going through for the past few years are all due. The primary factor behind this is the emission of fossil fuels, but it is certainly not the only culprit, however.

Even if pollution is reduced to zero at this time, it will take hundreds of years to get rid of the air, water, and soil pollution. Smoke vehicles, industries, metals, nitrates, plastics, and highly toxic waste products and chemicals are contributing to the increase in pollution. These problems can only be overcome if a plan is drawn up, a law is enacted to curb industrial emissions, and environmental pollution is reviewed, as people are different because of environmental pollution. And they are suffering from a deadly disease. Children are also affected. The government should launch a campaign to prevent environmental pollution. The people should take an active part in this, in which ways to avoid pollution should be explained. E.g., We should use paper bags instead of plastic bags because of plastic. The bags rot. But they don't run out. Which causes deadly diseases in the environment. The government has initiated a tree-planting campaign for pollution prevention and climate change in which we, the people, should also participate more.
