You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people |
Education is fundamental to the development of individuals,
societies and nations. Thanks to the advancement and rapid development of
technology, the style of education has changed drastically in every sphere of
life.
Education systems around the world have been hit hard by the Corona
virus lockdown. Developed countries have so far become normal in New Normal due
to their knowledge of technology and facilities, but the situation in Pakistan
is not yet satisfactory.
Across the country, where schools are once again closed due to the
third wave of corona virus, college and university education continues, but
concerns remain.
In an interview with Michael Pearson, a British educator based in
Pakistan, I asked if the online system had affected the education system.
What will be the future of education in such a situation?
"It's a million-dollar question, it's too early to answer, but one thing
is for sure, we have to adapt our teaching system to current technology,"
he said. There is no other choice.
In this regard, in an ongoing conversation with Shamim Khurshid,
Principal of St. Patrick's College, a well-known and historical institution in
Karachi, he said that of course, the resources created for the future of
education where there is an opportunity for us, but it is a new opportunity for
us. Is also creating. We need to adopt a positive mindset.
Human connection and physical affiliation are the heart of
education. There can be no substitute for physical dialogue between teacher and
students. Technology is by no means a substitute for the role and usefulness of
a teacher. But given the time and circumstances, equipping and training teachers
with modern technology is an important investment. In this regard, there is an
urgent need to change the training of teachers, teaching style and mindset,
because teachers are the leaders who will shape the minds of the architects of
the future of our nation.
One philosopher has eloquently stated this fact: "Teaching is
a sacred profession. And I think that because of their profession, teachers are
holy beings, like angels, guiding the light from the darkness of their throats.”
A report by the World Economic Forum 2021 highlights the fact that
the corona virus has made it clear to us that we cannot leave the future of
education to chance. In this regard, we need to work on many new projects,
through which we can plan for the future and achieve better results. We must
not forget the fact that we may face many new challenges in the future. In
order to fulfill our educational vision and mission, we must not only take
steps that seem appropriate and feasible to us, but we must take extraordinary
steps in view of the circumstances.
The report highlights four key points:
1.
Improve
the teaching process in schools, organize and affiliate with international
organizations and institutions. Ensure the provision of modern technology in
schools.
2.
The
education system should be outsourced because now the education system has
become public. Therefore, other platforms, mediums and tools should be used for
education. Get support from IT and media companies for online learning.
3.
The
school should be the center for the attainment of education and training, but
the educational process should not be limited to the school walls.
4.
Education
should be equal and accessible to everyone, everywhere, at all times. The gap
between extra-curricular and extra-curricular activities should now be closed
and every individual should be educated according to his / her own preferences,
abilities and hobbies.
You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render
toward other people. We need to think out of the box, not just our own strategy
for the future. This is not the time to cry and lament problems, but the time
to take action. The education system needs to be prepared for this change. We
know the power of human qualities and the benefits of learning and moving
forward in life. We must give top priority to the importance of education for
the public good and the collective good.
At present there are about 53855200 children studying in 266311
educational institutions in Pakistan, while the total number of teachers is 1826400.
These are the children who are somehow getting an education but who cares about
the future of so many out-of-school children. This question is in place.
Statistics:
According to the statistics in Pakistan, there are 13465400
children in pre-primary, 23942000 children in primary, 175300 institutions and
545200 teachers, 7641500 children in middle, 47700 institutions and 469200
teachers, 4117900 children in high school, 31700 institutions and 580300
teachers, 120000 teachers 597,600 children, 1700 institutions, 40000 teachers,
teaching and vocational institutes, 470800 children, 3800 institutes, 18700 teachers,
The universities have 1862800 students, 211 universities, 51500 teachers.
With this background in mind, we can only prepare ourselves for
this change in the education system if we take serious, concrete and
comprehensive steps.
Teacher Training: A teacher only earns a salary; But a great
teacher attains the status of honor, good name, honesty, fame and benevolence.
A teacher is a multi-talented artist who makes the best use of his art to reach
the soul of the student. The teacher lives more than one life, because he
transfers his dreams to his students, and motivates the students to fulfill his
dreams while maintaining their identity, personality and dignity. Such teachers
go beyond the desires of life and become role models. Teacher training is a
very important step.
According to experts, we have to formulate our education policy by
following these points.
Free from time and space constraints:
We need to modernize our education system in such a way that it is
free from the constraints of time and space.
Individual Learning:
Education is now an individual process. Everyone must prioritize
learning according to their will and personal freedom.
Free will:
The concept of coercion and beatings in education is completely
gone. It depends on the complete free will of man.
Project basis:
Career basics and learning methods have changed. The focus should
be on project-based learning, not on degrees and courses.
Practical field experience:
This is a big problem in Pakistan. There is a huge gap between the
university and the industry which needs to be bridged by the students seeking
practical experience in their field.
Data era:
Today is the age of data and specialization. Everything is
explained by data, so the education system has to be connected to data.
Examination Procedure:
Pakistan's examination system is already plagued by many questions,
but there is an urgent need to change its approach after going online.
Ownership of seeking knowledge:
The most important and key role will be played by the students.
They have to complete the process of their education. The desired results can
only be achieved if the students take this process seriously. Students need to
get out of the degree race and focus on learning so that they can polish their
skills according to the changing times.
The role of mentors:
Mentors are the people who identify you, they are the ones who
reduce the distance to your destination and show you the way to the
destination. The role of mentors is very important in the life of every
successful person and in today's age of modern, advanced and specialization,
the importance of mentors increases even more. There are numerous methods,
ideas and formulas for searching for mentors around the world, on which books
and articles have been written, and many documentaries and films have been made
on the subject.
Training, workshops and courses on this particular subject are
conducted all over the world. Mentorship is an art that is no longer limited to
sports, spirituality and business, but is now considered essential to every
aspect of life. It plays a very important role in your personal, professional
and spiritual life.
How to find and access a good mentor?
This is an important and difficult question, the answer to which is
different for every human being. In my opinion, a good mentor is a person in
whose presence and friendship you have a sense of self-confidence, trust and
above all, self-confidence.
A good mentor encourages you not to follow your own instructions
but to rely on your abilities. A good mentor finds only courage, fortitude,
bravery, perseverance and morality in you. Everything else he can teach you. I
often say, "Find mentors who don't make you feel inferior or inferior, but
find mentors who give you confidence and encouragement."
When choosing a mentor, choose a person whose personality, life and
work affect you. That person is a role model for you. May his own life be ideal
and have everything you are looking for. Remember this is a relationship in
which trust, confidence and mutual respect are very important. You go to a
mentor to choose a mentor and seek guidance from them to advance your career.
It is also up to you how much importance and authority you give to your mentor
in your life. This is a voluntary and selfless relationship.
Why is a mentor necessary?
Mentor gives you the ability to see different aspects of life from
unique angles, perspectives and perspectives.
Mentor motivates you to think about life events and opportunities
that you never thought possible.
Mentor helps you to analyze your identity, self-knowledge and above
all based on the reality of life and encourages you to work towards achieving
your set goals.
Mentor brings you out of the dream world and into the real world
and talks to you about aspects of life that not everyone can tell you.
We must remember that education is not a one-sided process but a
shared responsibility of the government, society, parents, teachers and
students, and that unless all individuals play their part in any society, that
momentum of progress in society will be achieved. Can't do what they want.
Of course, with all these questions comes another question that
comes to mind that Pakistani society is facing difficulties due to its
political, social and economic problems, how we will face new challenges in the
field of education. Are we, as a nation, really planning ahead on this
important point? Time will tell, which we have very little, if not all.
