Dowry is a Curse?

 

From childhood we hear the saying that dowry is a curse. But this is limited to words. On the contrary, as soon as a girl is born, her dowry is made. But now we need to look at the evolution of dowry in this society to see how it is embedded in us.

The basic concept of dowry is associated with Hinduism, in Hinduism a girl is not given a share in the inheritance and at the time of her marriage, her father relinquishes his duty by giving some equipment to his daughter. But on the contrary, when we look at the pages of the history of Islam, we find that Islam has always looked down on dowry. And in Islam, girls are given a share in the inheritance, they are commanded to share in the father's property.

The history of Islam bears witness to the fact that when Hazrat Muhammad chose Hazrat Ali for the marriage of his beloved daughter Fatima, he asked whether he had the right of dowry. Hazrat Ali said, "No." He said, "Go and sell something of yours and collect the dowry, because this is a divine command." Hazrat Ali obeyed the order.

Dowry is an Arabic word which means the things that parents give to their daughter as a gift on leave. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave a musk and a mill as a gift at the time of the marriage of his beloved daughter Fatima. Gift transactions create a spirit of love, compassion and help. But exaggerating one's status causes problems for others and leads to differences. At the same time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed Walima. Eating at the daughter's house is also forbidden. But our society has become dumb and deaf.

Even today, many girls have gray their hairs without dowry. Parents are forced to manage a large amount of money? Many girls' lives are ruined because of low dowry. Today, society seems to be promoting wealth instead of humanity. We have forgotten the teachings of our religion Islam. That is why we are stuck in the mire of evils. We have forgotten that dowry has no significance in Islam.

In our society today, dowry is considered a show, and people are in a race to get ahead of each other. And this is the reason why a pure relationship like marriage based on dowry has been made more and more difficult. And daughter-like mercy is beginning to be understood. Now there is a need to rid the society of this menace and for this strict measures should be taken at the government level. And laws should be enacted that would abolish the practice of dowry and bring society in line with Islamic principles and values.
